Happy New Year!

I received some good news today - Kylie's engaged! And this time, I heard it from the horse's mouth .. I had congratulated her for being engaged a couple of months back, even though she wasn't (stupid grapevine) .. but now she is and she let me know so I can correctly congratulate her :o) It was really romantic too - she + Vic are in Switzerland atm and he proposed NYE :o)

Have had a so-so week .. so not motivated to do any work! I only started really getting into things Thurs/Friday, but most ppl had gone by mid-Friday so I decided to leave too :p

I saw 2 sides to the elderly too this week .. I got told off at the gym by some old woman - she had told me off a few weeks back too! The first time she told me off, it was at my first circuit class and I didn't realise there is an etiquette about which piece of equipment to use ... After doing the non-equipment exercises, when you rotate to the equipment, apparently you're meant to go to the piece of equipment next to the one you were last at when you were using it - I was just going for the nearest one .. the old woman told me that she was up to the piece of equipment I was on so I apologised and moved on to something else - she didn't even end up using it! I was sooo not impressed! You only stay on the piece of equipment for a couple of mins, so by the time she kicked me off and I found another piece, the rotation was pretty much wasted ...

Anyways, she told me off again at my 2nd ever step class .. I was late (was meant to do boxing but at last min, Bernard realised he'd left his t-shirt at home so I rushed to Step instead) .. I put my step next to the column (it was the only place left) and realised during warmup I couldn't see the instructor, so i moved it forward ... It was sorta in line with the old lady and she then later asked me to move mine back - i told her i can't cos I can't see the instructor then .. so she slightly moved hers back .. She then told me off later saying that you should never put your step in line with someone else's (but that seems like such bs cos everyone else had done it!!!) and to use my brain .. I felt like snapping at her but restrained .. After she made me get off that piece of equipment last time and didn't use it, i felt like there was no point being nice to her .. she seems so picky and i'm not going to give in to every demand she makes!

She also made me realise that I dont ever want to be like that - well crabby for starters, but a gym-junkie when i'm older .. she's quite toned, but it's not a good look when you're really wrinkled (i know that sounds mean but overly toned women at any age can be quite scary .. )

the other side to the elderly I saw was how fragile they are ... i went to the bank downstairs and saw an old woman on the ground .. her husband and some other woman was tending to her, and i noticed she had a cut ankle .. but i realised that something wasn't quite right - her ankle was not sitting right at all! It was pointing inwards and not fully connected to her ankle - i think her bone was jutting out a bit and there wasn't heaps of blood gushing out but there was a bit .. I didn't know what to do - should I help (even though I didn't know how to?) or just continue with my banking .. Someone was calling an ambulance, and I felt rather helpless .. I continued with my banking cos I figured that there wasn't anything I could do as I dont know the woman, she was being comforted already and I have no idea how to fix her ankle .. If I had witnessed her fall, then I would have tried to help, but as i got there afterwards I didn't .. hmm

I used up my bogof sheraton voucher at the Four Points Hotel .. all you can eat buffet at lunch - ugh I felt awful for the rest of the day! the food wasn't that great (much better at the sheraton) and I asked for tap water but they gave us bottled! $6 per bottle! eep! buffets are wasted on me .. I dont get my money's worth and I try to, but end up feeling awful afterwards .. it's not worth it - i'd rather go a la carte and not stuff myself till I feel like throwing up! :p pleasant :p

Spent last night at Ruth's for NYE .. mucho fun, except for Scattegories where there was some bias judging happening ... Xerx, Alan and I had some great answers, but the others wouldn't accept it! (okay some were dodgy and I blame Xerx for that, but they were still reasonable answers!!)

Matt says that I (and Allan L) are shopaholics, and I think he's right .. I've been buying things I don't need at the sales (some weren't even on sale!) when I don't really need them ... hmm must try to avoid the sales cos I really dont need anything else - I think i've gotten everything i need!

JY was in Thailand recently but left the day before the tsunami hit .. I'm glad he's safe, and Minh too .. hmm
