Hello, is it me you're looking for?
I haven’t blogged in aaaaggess :o( It’s been months in fact :o( I just haven’t had the time, or motivation when I have had time … but now, I feel motivated again :o) wewt, let’s party!
I’ve just started a new rotation, and I’ve learnt heaps .. feels like I’ve been here for aaggess now :p It’s meant to be non-IT, but I’m doing IT sorta stuff (writing requirements), so it’s more like a BA role, which is cool – I haven’t had a role like this just yet…
I learnt quite a bit from my last rotation – well, when I wasn’t answering fones ;o) I don’t really like answering fones much :o/ .. I wish I could go on a good programming course though, because I would like to learn some good coding practises .. I had to write/modify code in vba and I think it could have been written much better if I had more time and more experience too …
So .. what’s been happening since I last blogged? Hehe too much to write down, so here’s a summary of things:
Happy Birthday to You and You and You
Hopefully this is in order from oldest to most recent:
- Margs
- Mindy
- Kylie
- Viv
- Richard
- Liggy
- JJ
- Jaimal
Food Galore
Hmm think I’ve been eating out quite a bit lately:
- Pancakes at the Rocks x 2 (their mains suck .. dessert pancakes aren’t too bad, provided they come out fresh)
- Ribs, Rump and Seafood restaurant – it was okay, but not as good as it has been in the past … and the waiter was a bit of a smart 455 and kinda annoying too :p
- Arthur’s Hofbrauhaus @ Gordon – went there with Viv, Alan and Eugene for Viv’s b’day on the weekend .. a lot of “mature” ppl and families were eating there, really popular. Food is Bavarian – I didn’t feel like a main, so I got an entrée and soup as my main instead ? really yummo! And v filling too :o)
- Peking Duck @ Enfield – Viv, Alan, Eug and I had another outing out here .. Peking duck was sooo good, they give you the whole duck and use the bone for soup .. so instead of getting a second main dish, you instead get soup instead and a lot of peking duck :o) They had a nice lamb hot pot thing too, though the rest of the dishes there weren’t that great (but you wouldn’t be going there for anything but the peking duck :p)
- Masuya – Went there with the Mac Bankers last week for JJ’s farewell lunch :o( bye JJ! … I like their food there though, tempura + udon = yummo!
- Ichiban Boshi – Another mac bank lunch .. was okay, but I don’t really like their meat quality ? I prefer Masuya!
- Breadtop ? I haven’t actually been “eating out” there, but I have been going there recently .. It’s really popular, but slightly expensive (esp if you go regularly ;o) also, the stuff you can get at other asian grocery stores tends to be more expensive here) … Their custard buns aren’t that nice, but their choc melon buns are sooo yum! Hmmm
Frisbee
I think I last left off when the hat tourney was on.. we came 3rd/4th (we were too busy playing with a drink in our hand in the 3rd-4th play off to take it seriously :p) but we won both spirit and cheers… however, we drew with the first place in spirit, so the commissioner (who was on my team) gave it to the other team who also won ? which was kinda disappointing as they got the better prize! The Spirit prize was one of those collapsible chairs – really handy .. whilst winning the cheer prize meant getting a drink bottle .. hmmm :p
We’re about halfway through the current tournament and both of my teams aren’t doing that well .. up until Monday, we’d pretty much lost all games in Div 2 – last week, the other team forfeited, but we still played them and lost (they also hadn’t won any games up until that night) … however, this week, our team really really really gelled well! I scored 3 in a row (hat trick), I felt more confident than I have in aaaagges and it was a good feeling … We won by heaps as well .. I guess our opposition weren’t as strong as other teams, but I think everyone in our team played well, so that really contributed to our win … I thought the opposition would be a good team though, they have some really experienced players amongst them ..
With Div3, we’ve only won 1 game .. we drew on Monday though, it was a really good game … good as in friendly and fun .. it was fr1gging freezing though :p We were even with the other team the whole way ? same number of players, same number of guys and girls .. very evenly matched .. we ended up playing 5 vs 5 as we were both short heaps of players, which made the conditions even worse, as you end up having to run around heaps more, and there are less options available .. but we did well considering the situation and the team seem to be improving!
We’ve been having a real player shortage in div3 though, which isn’t good … I’ve managed to recruit a few extra players, but whether they turn up, is another thing :o/
I also have been training with the mac uni team .. they’re sooo cool! We were playing Lee’s team and he saw we were struggling a bit, so he said we could train with his team .. it’s good, because a) we have a location b) Lee’s a great coach and c) if I was to run a training session, I doubt we’d have a lot of ppl rock up .. at least this way, ppl are guaranteed to come ? mac uni players are pretty dedicated!
So I now have another night of Frisbee, which is good .. Good exercise, nice ppl, lots of fun, and I’m learning quite a bit :o)
Engagement Parties
Louisa + Lee and Grace + Mamo’s … It’s kinda exciting going to these things, it’s amazing how old we’re all getting! Matty + Betty will also be marrying v soon too! :o)
Louisa + Lee’s was fun .. I got stuck at the end with the mac uni/computer nerds ;o) I think cos I’m in IT, they assumed I had some sorta technical knowledge about things, but er … they were wrong ;o) but they were v nice ppl .. and the venue was heaps interesting ? a broken Abba orchestral cd which kept playing the same song over and over and over again :p And the walls were like being in caves, underwater ones :p It was definitely interesting .. apparently this restaurant featured in Muriel’s Wedding (I think when Muriel met Rachael Griffith’s character and performed Abba together?)
Grace + Mamo’s was good too .. a more formal event, it was interesting seeing everyone dress up in suits and dresses ? haven’t had an occasion quite like that in a while :D
Uni Days
The other day was rather strange .. I was leaving a work function with Alan and bumped into Paul from uni .. he actually stopped us to talk to us! I haven’t seen him since .. well uni I guess? I don’t think I spoke to him at graduation? .. He seems to be doing well, which is good to see ? he’s moved on from IT too :p
Then Alan + I saw our networking 2 tutor .. we both couldn’t remember his name though :p
And then I bumped into Lowell, but he was busy chatting with his mates :p
Speaking of uni, I’ve volunteered to buddy up with an industrial student at work ..I never volunteered to buddy up with the 2006 grads, which I kinda wish I had ? only because it would have been cool to have gotten Carly or Jon .. though I guess they can always approach me whenever they have any questions anyways :p
Movies
OMG I watched the jap version of the grudge on Saturday night .. I watched it with Viv + Alan + Eugene .. Alan insisted we watch it, he’s already seen it .. I think had I watched it alone it would have been quite scary .. but watching it with other ppl made it less scary, esp when we were just laughing at some of the stuff .. and also, I’ve seen bits of the American version ,so I sorta knew what was happening in certain scenes .. hmm it was a pretty dodgy ending though ..
I also watched the Ring the other month too – the American version .. I didn’t really like it, but I did find it scarier than the jap version of the grude surprisingly …
I started watching Shall We Dansu, the jap version of Shall We Dance ? now that’s my kinda movie! :o) I watched it ages ago, it’s a nice sweet movie :o) I still have to see the American one though .. I also watched the Girl Next Door too, omg that movie was painful! Never again! It seemed like it was the end, but it never ever was .. it just kept going on and on and painfully on!
Think I’m meant to see Bewitched with my sista soon .. that should be er interesting .. don’t think I’ll like it, but I’m intrigued … I’ve been watching the series (really old episodes I haven’t seen before) on foxtel on Tues nights .. I love the show, but I hate how sexist it all is .. Like the other night, Sam had gotten into a fight with Darrin ? he accused her of using witchcraft and lying to him about some ad she came up with … Whilst he’s in the wrong (lack of trust etc), she just wanted to sweet it under the carpet, and was going to wear something sexy and cook him a nice dinner just so he’d forget about it .. Some of the endings in the earlier episodes are really cheesey (haha even some of the later ones) but it’s still v entertaining …
Holidays
I’m looking forward to another long weekend next week … yay to working at a Bank! :o) I’ve also finally booked some annual leave (haven’t taken any yet), am going away at the end of August :o) can’t wait!
Okay, that’s it for me :o) Hopefully I can update this thing a bit more regularly, provided I have something interesting to write about! :D
