Another Cycle Begins ...

It's a brand new start .. well not really :p Mamo started his new job at Accenture (hope it all went okay!) whilst I started my new rotation - it's meant to be 4 months, but because I started late, it's only about 3.5 months .. I've joined a first level support team, and I know half the people here already, or most of them have recognised me from all the socialising I did in this area when Matt/Josh/JY all worked here :p

I haven't really done that much since joining - a lot of the stuff is pretty familiar as I already worked in a support team for my first rotation, and this current area used to assign the issues our way :p Now I'm seeing things from a different POV ... I've been monitoring emails every now and again, which is good as it's kept me busy - i'd work on one email, remove it, refresh the inbox and there would be more emails sitting there :o) but it was good to have something to do!

I got my first fone call the other day too .. I had emailed someone and said if they had probs, fone me back - lish gave me instructions if something went wrong and unfortunately the guy did have problems! :p I sorta panicked a bit and had to ask a workmate what to do (despite lish's instructions as they were scattered everywhere and i was lacking the confidence), though he even had probs with it (turns out lish's instructions wouldn't have helped anyways :p) ... but i'm slowly learning so that's good! :o)

lish is away and i kinda miss that - she was helping me out for my first 2 days --> I kept yawning everytime she was talking (she's that boring ;o) .. it got to the point where she was demanding I go for a walk :p .. but now she's away and everyone else seems a bit busy to help out ... hmm there seems to be less and less ppl in the office as each day goes by this week!

I'm not officially manning the fones and I'm not really looking forward to it ... I hate talking on the fone, esp to strangers! I don't mind talking to friends, but friends who I haven't spoken to in aaagges or don't see that regularly, I fear foning .. I even got scared foning one of my close friends the other day - sometimes you just never know what to say ... but I guess once you get past that, talking for ages can seem easy ... I remember back in uni, I'd talk to Alan on the fone for like ages, until we got fed up with either his or mine or both of our fones beeping as the batteries died :p That doesn't really happen anymore though - with work, it's hard to find the time - though also on my end, we upgraded our fone so the battery life lasts much longer :o) Also, I prolly talked to him less frequently and hence longer conversations than now where we talk more frequently but shorter convos :p

I think I prefer getting issues via email (though it's such a pain when the emails don't have much detail in them) - i dont know how i would have survived back in olden days without chat programs/emails! I remember someone complaining about chat programs being one of the worst forms of communication, as you can use it to hide behind and it is so true .. I guess that's why I prefer it - ppl dont know who I am, they only can read what I have to say - they can't hear it, hear my voice .. though that also is a bad thing as it leads to miscommunication as you can't tell someone's tone of voice from an email .. smiley faces/emoticons help, but what happens when there's none? Talking face to face can be confrontational, whilst via email, you can just walk away, pretend you never got the email, or work on it in your own time ... brb (she brb'ed me)

Franklin organised my farewell lunch last Friday at Masuya .. yum! Matt convinced me to get the most expensive set which had wagyu in it - though i was v disappointed with the wagyu as it was tough and the cow obviously wasn't massaged much! Their tempura is lovely though! :o) yum i feel like going back just to eat their tempura now :p

I realised that I dont like being centre of attention that much - that afternoon, I was presented with my card and a box of chocolates in one of our meeting rooms .. I was at the head of the table and I was forced to give a speech (grr Matty! :p) ... Dang that was really embarrassing :p Carly and Emma couldn't stop laughing about it afterwards - they could feel my awkwardness :p

I went back to my old building for a meeting the other day - man what a waste of time! but i wasn't doing much here :p It was to discuss how to improve the testing process .. fun fun .. whilst i was a little bit sad to leave, I think I left at a good time (reasons are discussed in Matt's blog -> March 11th entry :p) ... and that other building is really old and ugly - i walked in the other day and realised that the building has a smell .. I had gotten so used to it, it didn't really register that it had a smell until i walked in knowing that i no longer work there ... it's not a strong smell, but it's still a smell :p

Going to finish this post with a story:
Shortest Fairy Tale Ever.

Once upon a time a guy asked a girl "will you marry me?"

She said "No"

And the guy lived happily ever after..

Ciao for now :o)
