Just Wanted To Say ...

Wow .. over 2 weeks since i've last blogged! i had a bit of time to blog at work recently, as we finished our testing phase, but i wasn't in the mood and now when I am, i'm swamped .. busy trying to document all i know (hehe not all that much ;o) and i also have to present on the work i've been doing (grr you Matt! you didn't have to agree to it!) as my manager suggested it will help me with my presentation skills! fun fun, not ... I rotate next week, so i'm just trying to get everything in order before I go --> passing on knowledge to Matt + Franklin ... Will miss my team, been really nice people i've been hanging out with these past few months ... there are other things I won't miss of course (like my new desk where everyone walks by!), but the good definitely outweighs the bad ..

Anyhoos, so what's been happening the past 2 weeks? quite a bit, but i'll try to put the more important stuff earlier in the post, cos i figure no one will read the end bits :p

Firstly - Happy Birthday for Saturday, Alan :o) To my best friend and favourite bus driver ever, I hope you had a great day :o) ... The poor boy has been overworked lately (your fault Mindy! :p) and had to do work from home on his birthday for most of the morning and some of the evening .. and had to go in on Sunday too .. fun fun, not ... I do believe he's currently still at work atm ...

I took Alan out to a Greek restaurant (the Athenian) on Friday night - portions there are huge (good value and yummy!) .. I bought him a cake from the lindt cafe too - really yummy, but boy, were we almost too full to eat it! :p We also had steamboat on Saturday with his family - I love steamboat .. you fill up really easily even though you probably don't eat that much - you spend a lot of time waiting for the food to cook that you eat slowly over a long period of time ... good diet food :P

Secondly - Congratulations to Mamo and Grace :o) I, (well actually pretty much everyone in our group), won a bet that they would be the first in our group to become engaged and we were right :o) Grace has been my friend since Yr 7, and Mamo since first year uni (he marked tib's/womble's/my IS assignment :p) and now, they're engaged :o) Seems to be the season to be getting engaged :p

Yesterday, I had the day off for working overtime (though I dont remember working that much overtime :p hehe except i managed to charge 150+ hours to one area last month which my manager thought was excessive :p Some of that time was due to meetings etc which my manager didn't want me charging to that charge code) .. I was planning on sleeping in y'day, but I had forgotten to switch my alarm off so it went off at 6:40 :o/ Went back to sleep, mum woke me up at 8 .. went back to bed and ended up having to get up at 9 to rush to the dentist .. also went to the doctors, bank, took mum to one of her appointments, picked up a parcel from the post office, went shopping and saw a movie .. by the time we got home, it was already night time!

Saw Bride and Prejudice - it wasn't too bad .. um never seen a Bollywood film before so wasn't quite used to all that singing and dancing .. some of it seemed stupid at the start, like unnecessary and out of context, but the later scenes didn't seem as bad and were much more tolerable .. hehe the mr collins representative was funny :P I think my favourite scene in both the bollywood and austen version is where lizzy (or her equivalent) refuses mr collins and the mother says she will never talk to her daughter again if she doesn't accept him .. whilst the father says that he will never talk to her if she does :o) it's funny yet sweet at the same time :p Martin Henderson was kinda cute in it too, though he wasn't quite as brooding as Colin Firth - his role didn't seem quite as snobby as austen's darcy .. or was proud and reserved - in fact, he seemed rather easygoing and i didn't quite see why the lizzy equivalent (lalita) was refusing him? hehe i would have accepted him ;o)
ah i'm a sucker for pride and prejudice though :p I wonder how Keira Knightley will do in the latest remake of this story? I'm not sure if I quite see her as Lizzie, but Jennifer Ehle was wonderful in the BBC version, and she's set a pretty high benchmark .. (Okay, I do realise that if you've never seen P&P - that pretty much rules out most guys :p - then this whole paragraph makes barely any sense so I do apologise!)

hmm summary of the past 2 weeks:
- Xerx + Kel + Daphne have started playing frisbee .. there's a beginner's course on atm, which I attended with them on Monday - was fun :o) Can't wait for the hat tournament, feels like ages since I have played even though it's only been a couple of weeks :p
- Went to a Waratahs match (vs Chiefs) with Pete .. was good, except that ppl kept finding their seats for a full 30 minutes, so I missed a lot of the game as we had aisle seats and I couldn't see past them as they kept walking past us! :o/
- Saw Peter shark dive at Oceanworld, Manly ... hehe i wouldn't want to do it :p The sharks seemed to get really close to Pete, but he was on the good end - the 4 divers were in a row and the sharks would swim around from pete's end to the other end of the line then circle around ... as the sharks approached the other end, they moved further down, almost hitting into their heads :p not something i'd ever want to experience :p

- Sri Lankan food fair was also on that day at Carlingford - raising money for the tsunami fund .. honey hoppers = lush!
- Been meeting up with ppl for lunch recently, such as Nicole and also the Mac Bankers :o) Good catching up with people I haven't seen in a while!
- Lauz apparently got runner up in some Britney Spears comp :p She entered it cos she wanted to go os to london, she didn't care about britney at all :p Problem is, the lady who phoned about it left a mesg on our answering machine but the last 2 digits of her fone number got cut off! Not sure what's happening there! Tis a bit of bad luck, even though Lauz did win something .. cos it wasn't what she wanted to win and she still can't claim it anyways! :p

been gymming it after work lately - keep bumping into Sylvia there (friend of Lauz's) .. she's becoming my new gym buddy :p I already see her most Saturdays for 2 hours (she does 3 hours) of classes :p It's good having the company .. not sure what's going to happen when I rotate - I dont want to have to give up my lunchtime classes but probably will as I'm on shift work :o/ Which means no boxing with Bernard and prolly no more MJ's aerobics for a while :o/ Though i spent today's boxing class chatting too much to Bernard so I kept missing half of my punches :P At least I won't stop seeing him, as I'll be moving to his floor next week :P

Absolutely beat so going to bed now .. once again, happy b'day alan :o) and also congrats to Grace + Mamo :o) Hope you're all vvv happy as you all deserve to be :o)
