Decision Making ...
Not feeling that good atm, have a slight headache (had it since last night) and am feeling a bit dizzy .. My mum's got the flu atm, so I'm thinking that maybe that's what I'm getting? But I don't really have the other symptoms, except my nose gets a bit blocked and stuff now and again ... dont really want to be sick :o( I know it's going around atm, Matt's also a bit crook ...
Yesterday was a v short work day for me :p I had an end of project lunch @ the Radisson Hotel, which was paid for by work .. We had 2 courses - for the main, we had roasted cornfed chicken breast, with sauteed potatoes, wilted English spinach and pancetta .. and for dessert, we had tiramisu :o) yum yum! And drinks were free too (despite my workmate telling me they weren't :p damn, last time I believe him on anything :p)
We also had an auction, the auctioneer was heaps funny .. They were selling the oddest items (like a huge blow up penguin, this ghastly paperweight, a toy sword with painted *blood* marks on it, and a system's death certificate :p), I was amazed by how much most of that stuff went for .. If only I had that kinda money to blow on worthless items - though the money did go to Youth on the Streets so I guess if you consider the money's going to charity as opposed to buying useless junk, it doesn't seem that much :p
And then we got to go home .. or go drinking .. or socialise .. or just do whatever :p So I was on my way home at like 3:30pm y'day, ah that felt good :p
hmmm have some decisions to make atm about my next rotation ... I was contacted by the resource management centre y'day - 2 managers are interested in me apparently .. One role is as a test analyst and the other as an analyst programmer ... hmm I think the analyst programmer role sounds slightly more appealing, but I think it's a lot of mainframe work, and it requires "Strong and recent ON-LINE CICS/COBOL/Mainframe/DB2 experience" --> something I don't have .. so I don't know why that manager is interested in me, unless he'd be willing to send me on training? .. The test analyst one sounds a little bit boring, testing isn't really that much fun .. but I do have a knack for creating problems which no one else could probably ever find --> e.g. the Andrea Bug, took 5 months to solve :p
These 2 roles are with a major major project at Wpac, so it'd be a great opportunity regardless .. it's well recognised within the bank and it's where all the money is atm ... So I'm happy that i'm being offered a role within this project, as opposed to Channels, which was where I was supposedly meant to go?
And then there's also Cape York .. before RMC contacted me yesterday, my ex-workmate rang me up about the Cape York project which my company is involved in .. She's going there for a month to help out, and apparently, in oct/nov, there's a web development role available .. She was asked if she knew anyone, and I think she's going to refer me (she was asking me y'day if I'm interested) .. I'd still have to apply normally, but it's one of those opportunities that if you're presented with it, you don't turn down! But I can see it not eventuating ..
I'd have to apply normally (CV and application form I think?) and do an interview but hmm not sure if i'd get it, esp seeing as I'm only a grad and it would mean a whole month away from work (which I'm not sure if my next rotation would be pleased about) .. oh well, if i hear more, i'll do something then, but in the meantime i don't think i'll be doing anything just yet ...
I trained it in with Xerxes again this morning .. except he didn't see me on the platform as he was too busy chatting with a workmate .. so they sat together, and then he saw me when i came to sit down :p So I sat behind him, which was good as i was able to *try* to sleep .. except i had problems sleeping and only started to drift off around Central, when the oaf (ie Xerxes) decided to whack me to tell me goodbye .. Bah! :p I fell asleep later on though, and woke up thinking I'd missed my stop (the train was late and going by the time, I should have been 1-2 stops past SL station), but thankfully I hadn't!
Ooer, I bought this month's Table magazine :p It comes with a free spatula (i got the bright green one, i kinda wished i'd gotten the pink one but mum preferred green), i'm such a sucker for these magazine freebies .. spatulas are like less than $1 at kmart :p hehehe the magazine only costs $3.50 (cheaper than any Cleo/Cosmo .. though I used to get them for free when my sista used to work at P&G, but alas no more!), so it's not that bad value :o) Lotsa cool recipes (i hope!)
Off to think some more - i'm such a Libran :p ... ta ta for now! :o)
